The thing that got me started on this drama was its title "The Fiery Priest". I was unsure of what to expect from the drama. As I had not seen anything like this in Kdrama world.( Being an ardent Kdrama fan since 2011)
So if you are someone out there looking to laugh out loud and curse the bad guys this drama is definitely for you. The series starts with Kim Nam Gil, he is your titular character - "The Fiery Priest". He is this cool, handsome and short tempered priest who cannot bear injustice around him. He has this awesome smirk filled with attitude for people who think - "What the hell can a priest do?".
But mind you he can fight like a crazy Shaolin Monk, leaving you mesmerized yet again this time with combat skills along with those killer looks. How much can a man do alone? If you are wondering something like this then don't worry director did leave him a good team to back him up.
This team does not come from get go. Rather our Fiery Priest has to build this along the way with his good intentions. The team includes a detective (Kim Sung-kyun), rookie detective with killer moves(Keum Sae-rok) and a corrupt prosecutor (Lee Hanee).
Eventually he does find help from his colleagues at cathedral and none other than "Pope Francis of Vatican". Down the lane they also display skills that no other person can live up to.
One more important factor is the drama does not make use of romance in any way to feed us with comedy. Not that I have anything against it but that lot of times dials down the comic timings in funny dramas.
There are a number of scenes between Kim Nam Gil and Honey Lee for which you will pour your hearts in with laughter. Like the one below where Honey Lee finally decides whether to keep both feet in the boat or out. Both go dashing with their suits and googles "The Matrix" way and you would not be able to hold you laughter.
It is a 20 episode drama available on Netflix. So let this lock down get you started on Fiery wagon.
